Ub defeated Shanghai 21–15 to win the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Macau final at the Ruins of St. Paul’s on 18 October, according to the Sports Bureau of Macao’s closing report.

Outside shooting turns the final

Shanghai took the early lead before Ub changed the direction of the final. The organiser’s account credits Ub’s adjustments and a succession of successful outside shots with turning the game towards the Serbian team.

Ub had beaten DeQing in the quarter-finals before overcoming Skyliners 21–15, the Sports Bureau reported on 18 October. Shanghai reached the title game by eliminating Taipei WanBao and then beating Miami 21–18 in the same report.

Ub’s Marko Brankovic received the Most Valuable Player award after the championship victory. The individual honour accompanied the team trophy at the conclusion of the Macau tournament.

SportsRivo compared the organiser’s semi-final and final results: Ub won both matches by identical scores, while Shanghai followed a closer semi-final victory with defeat.

An international field in Macau

The Sports Bureau’s opening report of 17 October described a field of 16 teams from around the world. Qualification and pool games opened the programme, with the knockout rounds following on the closing day.

The opening-day quarter-final list included teams representing Serbia, the Netherlands, the United States, Germany, China, Chinese Taipei and Macao. The final paired the Serbian team with a Chinese opponent after both had advanced through that international knockout field.

Ub take the trophy, Shanghai finish runners-up

  • Ub leave Macau as champions after overcoming Shanghai’s early advantage in the final.
  • Shanghai finish as runners-up after progressing past Taipei WanBao and Miami in the knockout rounds.
  • Brankovic takes the tournament’s individual MVP honour alongside Ub’s team title.
