Tom Nolan stopped Renato Moicano by TKO at 1:28 of round three in Las Vegas on 31 October, according to the UFC's 1 November report. The win came in Nolan's first UFC main event.
Nolan turns back Moicano’s grappling
Moicano took Nolan's back early and looked for a rear-naked choke. Nolan defended the attack and returned to his feet, but Moicano continued to force the fight to the canvas. The UFC's account says Nolan spent much of the opening round protecting his neck rather than building his own offence.
Nolan found a better striking range in the second round, landing a head kick and punches. Moicano still secured another takedown and a body triangle. Once the action returned to the feet, Nolan dropped Moicano and landed a sequence of strikes before the round ended.
The finishing exchange came after Moicano tried to wrestle again. Nolan swept into top position and struck from there until the referee stopped the fight. The UFC records punches and elbows as the method of victory; Moicano's early grappling advantage had not produced a submission.
A first headliner becomes a major win
Before the bout, the UFC's 29 October profile recorded Nolan at 5-0 since losing his Octagon debut. It also described this booking as his first main event and noted his recent win over Fares Ziam. Moicano, a former lightweight title challenger, was the established opponent Nolan had to beat.
SportsRivo compared that pre-fight profile with the UFC's results report: Nolan entered his first headliner on a five-fight UFC winning run, then stopped the former title challenger. The UFC's separate post-fight assessment placed Nolan among the card's notable winners and anticipated bigger lightweight tests, without naming an opponent.
What the result changes
- Nolan's first UFC main event ended with a stoppage against a former lightweight title challenger.
- Moicano's back control and submission attempts did not stop Nolan's comeback on the feet and from top position.
- The UFC now frames Nolan as a lightweight contender following the result; a next opponent has not been confirmed in its opened reports.
