The Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Baltimore Ravens 33–10 at M&T Bank Stadium on 5 November, according to Jacksonville's match report. Trevor Lawrence's touchdown pass to Parker Washington helped the visitors pull clear on a rainy Thursday night.
Washington touchdown opens the gap
Jacksonville scored on its opening possession when Bhayshul Tuten finished a drive with a short run. Baltimore answered with a field goal, but the Jaguars added another before Lawrence found Washington late in the first half. Washington beat coverage and took the pass into the end zone, giving Jacksonville a much larger cushion at the break.
The Jaguars' match report for Thursday says Lawrence completed sixteen passes for 242 yards and a touchdown. Jacksonville's defence then intercepted rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano on Baltimore's first possession after half-time. Montaric Brown's interception led to a Cam Little field goal, while Jourdan Lewis picked off Fagnano later and set up another Little kick. A recovered fumble on the ensuing kick-off gave Jacksonville a further possession that Chris Rodriguez Jr. converted into a touchdown.
Baltimore's Justice Hill broke away for a late touchdown run, but the Ravens did not close the gap. Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen said: “I was extremely proud of their process throughout the week that led us to this point,” praising how his team handled the rain. Jacksonville's report also credits its defence with three takeaways and says the team never trailed after Tuten's opening score.
Ravens' difficult run deepens
Baltimore's own match report says Fagnano was making his first NFL start while Lamar Jackson was on injured reserve with a thumb injury. Fagnano threw two interceptions, and the Ravens' offence could not sustain a response after Washington's touchdown. The home side has now lost four consecutive games, according to both clubs' reports.
SportsRivo checked Baltimore's account against Jacksonville's report. The Ravens say this was the first time in franchise history that their offence had scored fewer than fourteen points in four successive games. Our earlier report on Buffalo's win over Baltimore covered the Ravens' previous defeat and the quarterback injuries that preceded Fagnano's start. Thursday's loss extends that sequence while Jacksonville's divisional position improves.
What the result changes
- Jacksonville remains top of the AFC South. The Jaguars' report says the club now leads Houston by three and a half games.
- Baltimore falls below an even record after a fourth consecutive defeat, the Ravens' match report says. The club's first start for Fagnano ended with two interceptions.
- Jacksonville's defence has held opponents to ten points or fewer in consecutive games, according to the Jaguars' report, giving the club another result built on turnovers and limited scoring.
Jacksonville visit Tennessee next
The Jaguars' official schedule lists a road game against the Tennessee Titans on 15 November. Jacksonville will take its division lead into that fixture after winning its second consecutive game, while Baltimore must address its offensive struggles before facing the Los Angeles Chargers, its next opponent according to the Ravens' report.
