World Athletics said in its November announcement that the 2027 Indoor Tour calendar contains 74 competitions across four levels. The programme reaches Europe, North America and Asia, with its opening meeting scheduled in the United States.
Meetings span four levels and three regions
In the 5 November 2026 release, World Athletics lists 8 Gold meetings, 25 Silver, 14 Bronze and 27 Challenger contests. The federation describes this as the current calendar, so the figures belong to the announcement rather than a final season tally.
The release identifies the Visit Winston-Salem College Kickoff as the Challenger meeting that opens the tour in the United States. The Challenger start comes before the Gold programme, giving the tour an earlier opening than its top-tier series.
World Athletics places the first Gold stop in Belgrade, Serbia. The circuit then goes to Ostrava, Madrid and Boston, continues through Karlsruhe and Liévin, visits New York and finishes in Toruń, Poland. The itinerary connects European and American venues within the wider calendar, while the other tiers extend the competition programme into Asia.
The announced American Gold meetings are the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston and the Millrose Games in New York. Belgrade Indoor Meeting opens the Gold sequence, and the ORLEN Copernicus Cup Toruń closes it. These are scheduled meetings on the federation's published itinerary, not completed performances.
Toruń returns after world indoor championships
World Athletics said Toruń hosted the World Athletics Indoor Championships in March 2026. The last meeting on the 2027 Gold Tour is scheduled for Toruń. The series will therefore return to a city that recently hosted the world indoor championships. SportsRivo checked the wider schedule against the World Athletics Indoor Tour competition calendar. JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem is the listed venue for the Visit Winston-Salem College Kickoff, one of two meetings scheduled for 5 December. The release identifies the Winston-Salem meeting as the start of the tour. The calendar adds the name of the sports facility.
What the schedule means for athletes and fans
- Athletes have announced indoor competition opportunities in Europe, North America and Asia across the wider tour, beyond the Gold meetings alone.
- The Gold itinerary gives fans in the United States planned stops in Boston and New York, while the European sequence runs from Belgrade to Toruń.
- Toruń closes the Gold programme at the same city that hosted the world indoor championships in March, providing a concrete endpoint for the series.
Winston-Salem is the first scheduled stop
World Athletics placed the Visit Winston-Salem College Kickoff on 5 December in its November announcement. Its competition calendar lists that meeting at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem and the Premier Track Classic in Louisville on the same date. Both meetings remain on the schedule.
