Joseph Ferencváros Milan victory

Ferencváros beat AC Milan 2–0 at San Siro on 5 November, UEFA's Europa League round-up confirms. Lenny Joseph scored both goals as the Hungarian club kept its league-phase record perfect.

Joseph turns pressure into both goals

Milan goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani kept Joseph out repeatedly before the interval. UEFA says Torriani was making his full debut and initially kept the hosts in the contest. Milan's own match report describes a save from Joseph's early shot, another after the striker seized a loose ball, and a further stop from close range. Ferencváros had created chances without finding a first-half breakthrough.

The opening goal came when Kristoffer Zachariassen pressed Torriani following a back-pass from Koni De Winter. Milan's report says Zachariassen won the ball and Joseph finished into an empty net. The move rewarded the visitors' pressure on Milan's attempt to play out from the back, a theme in both clubs' accounts of the match.

Joseph struck again after a Ferencváros counterattack. Zachariassen supplied the final pass, and the forward finished his second chance to put the visitors in control. Milan pressed for a response, but Torriani also had to save another Zachariassen attempt at the opposite end. The home side could not turn its late chances into a goal.

Milan's earlier setback gives the result context

SportsRivo checked UEFA's fixture record against Milan's match report: this defeat followed Milan's loss at Bournemouth in the previous Europa League round. The sequence leaves Milan with consecutive European defeats, while Ferencváros preserved the winning run it brought to San Siro. UEFA's match account says Torriani's saves delayed Joseph's breakthrough; Milan's detailed sequence shows the forward had already tested him several times. The goals therefore followed sustained chances for the same striker, not a single isolated attack.

League-phase positions after San Siro

  • Ferencváros made it four wins from four Europa League league-phase matches, according to UEFA's 5 November report. The club's perfect start survived an away match at Milan.
  • Milan remain on three points after four matches, UEFA's 5 November report says. The home defeat adds pressure to their remaining league-phase fixtures.

The next European matches

UEFA's fixture list schedules Ferencváros at home to Celje and Milan away to Olympiacos on 26 November. Both matches are scheduled fixtures, so their outcomes remain open.
