Vaishnavi Sharma climbed 53 places to 94th in the ICC women's ODI bowling rankings published on 3 November. The rise followed her five-wicket spell in India's series finale against Zimbabwe at Vadodara.
Sharma's final-ODI spell behind the rise
The ICC describes Sharma as the largest mover in its latest account of India's bowlers. Its 3 November report says she took four wickets in the preceding ODI, then returned 5/39 in the final match. The latter spell came in her third appearance in the format and earned her the Player of the Match award, according to the ICC.
The BCCI match centre independently lists Sharma as Player of the Match. It records an eight-wicket India win at Vadodara after Zimbabwe chose to bat. The separate match record establishes the result and award behind the newly published rankings movement; the ranking itself comes from the ICC's later update.
The same ICC update reports a rise for new-ball bowler Sayali Satghare after her economical spell in the final ODI. Kranti Gaud also moved up the bowling list after taking wickets in Vadodara. India's gains therefore extend beyond Sharma, although her jump was the largest of the group described by the ICC.
A series sweep and gains on both sides
The Zimbabwe matches formed part of the ICC Women's Championship, and India completed a sweep of the ODI series. SportsRivo checked the BCCI match record against the ICC rankings report: the board's Player of the Match entry names Sharma, while the ICC connects her final-ODI spell to the new bowling position.
The update also records movement outside India's bowling attack. Pratika Rawal advanced in the batting rankings after repeated half-centuries during the series, and Shafali Verma rose after a brisk final-ODI innings. Zimbabwe bowler Nomvelo Sibanda also gained places following an early wicket in the last match. Those changes show how performances by both teams fed into the same rankings release.
What the latest list changes
- Sharma is now inside the leading hundred in the ICC women's ODI bowling list, after her match-winning spell in the series finale.
- Satghare and Gaud also gained bowling positions, so India's recognised progress extends across more than one bowler.
- Rawal and Verma moved up the batting list, while Sibanda's rise gives Zimbabwe a gain from the completed series.
